Tool 4.2 Identification & Evaluation of Existing ICT-Enhanced Content |
|
|
The purpose of this tool is to assist policy makers and planners in identifying, evaluating and selecting existing educational ICT-enhanced content which meet the content needs outlined in Tool 4.1.
They cover the following categories:
- Audio/radio programs
- Video/TV programs
- Computers-related educational software
- Web-based multimedia objects
There are thousands of existing educational ICT-enhanced content and websites throughout the world. The challenge is to find the potentially appropriate ones and evaluate their suitability for the ICT-Enhanced Project to be implemented, and in accordance with the learning and instructional purposes delineated in Tool 4.1.
To assist educational authorities in facing this challenge, this tool offers two functions:
- It provides an annotated list of representative guides to existing software and web portals and objects that are directly or indirectly judged to be of merit.
- It supplies a facility for the creation of a searchable database of identified ICT-enhanced content
- It offers an instrument that can be easily used for expert evaluation of content in terms of their suitability, functionality and user-friendliness. However, the evaluation of the educational impact of a contentware item requires a different kind of evaluation that is discussed in Tool 6.1.
ImportantThe facilitation Team will need the assistance of specialists in the different characteristics of the needed ICT-enhanced content, such as curricular content, media type, pedagogy and instructional design, as it proceeds in applying this Tool.
The most efficient way is to authorize the experts to access the Tool and apply it as necessary. If this is not feasible, then the Team may download the FORMs and send them to the designated experts as email attachment.
